Program to Consider

Reynolds Young Writers Workshop at Denison University

Has your sophomore or junior written for The Ink? The CUSP? Or does s/he just enjoy creative writing and is ready to explore more in-depth work with professors?

The Reynolds Young Writers Workshop is a summer program for talented high school students (current sophomores and juniors) at Denison University in Granville, Ohio. The workshop is an eight-day residential program that incorporates small creative writing workshops, group sessions with Denison’s creative writing faculty and notable visiting writers, and more.

The workshop is limited to only 48 students, and thus participating students experience small, intimate writing workshops and one-on-one interactions with people who have made writing their career. It’s a great way to connect with a close-knit community of writing teachers, mentors, and peers from around the world. This is a chance for students to work with award-winning authors whose work has appeared in publications like The New Yorker, The Atlantic, and SB Nation; who have published books; who care deeply about storytelling; and who love to teach.

The program runs from June 21–28, 2020. Financial assistance is available to families who qualify, and the online application portal opened on January 6th. Applications must be submitted no later than Sunday, March 1, 2020, at 11:59 p.m.
